Lisa's empowering VBAC story

I had the pleasure of working with Lisa and her partner Andre in their second pregnancy.

This inspiring and uplifting story about Lisa’s VBAC birth demonstrates the power of preparation and practice when it comes to getting your mind and body ready for birth. The good old story of ‘once a c-section, always a c-section’ is just not always the truth, as vaginal birth after cesarean section (VBAC) can be an option. In fact, studies have shown a 60 to 80 percent success rate for women who attempt VBAC.

This story is incredible and goes to show the true power a women has within. I hope this story helps inspire and reassure any woman reading who is or has decided to go for a VBAC. So much love and power to you mama!

Lisa’s empowering VBAC story

I had contractions all through the week, which made my family and hubby wonder if we were close to meeting our new baby.

Something told me it wasn’t the right time. Strange given that in my first pregnancy I was induced, so I had never experienced spontaneous labour previously.

My practice with Zoe and hypnobirthing gave me the confidence to listen to and trust my body. As I was 41+ weeks I had a few dr check ups in quick succession where induction and repeat c-section were mentioned. While these options delivered us our beautiful and healthy son first time round, I had hoped for a different experience for my next birth.

On the Friday night we decided to stay a couple of nights in close to the hospital just in case things happened. Sure enough that night I had a bloody show and contractions started strong and regular around 4am. By 630 I had woken my husband and told him I thought it was time. It was a stormy autumn morning and I laboured to the sound of rain and thunder. I birthed my beautiful baby girl at 1145 am.

The first golden hours of Hannah’s life I lay in amazement at her as well as what my body had accomplished. I’m so grateful for Zoe’s support and guidance during my pregnancy. My husband also gained so much confidence and knowledge from our time spent with Zoe. We are forever transformed by this healing and powerful birth.
